    Education Department

    The Education Department in the City of Stockholm is the biggest municipal department in Sweden, with almost 16, employees and approximately municipal compulsory and upper secondary schools. We endeavour to provide all children in the Stockholm with a good education. The focus is on the pupils&#x; circumstances, motivation and learning.

    The issues that the Education Department is responsible for are to

    • operate and develop municipal activities in
      • preschool classes
      • compulsory school
      • special needs compulsory school
      • upper secondary school
      • special needs upper secondary school
      • leisure-times centres and after-school clubs
    • assume responsibility for independent operations based on the municipality’s responsibilities, such as licensing, supervision and handling applications, comments and complaints
    • offer services in all student health professions.

    The elected representatives on the Education Committee make decisions on how the City should work in this area. The Education Department must then implement the committee’s decisions.

    Organisation och ledning för utbildningsförvaltningen

    Utbildningsförvaltningens stab består av avdelningen för Administration och ekonomi, avdelningen för HR och kommunikation, avdelningen för Planering och utveckling samt avdelningen för Digitalisering och innovation. Avdelningarna finns i huvudsak på Skånegatan 20, våning 4.

    Vägledningscentrum samlar studie- och yrkesvägledning inom grundskola och gymnasium under ett tak. Vägledningscentrum har en drop in-mottagning på Skånegatan Vägledningscentrum ansvarar också för det kommunala aktivitetsansvaret, KAA. 

    Center för skolutveckling stödjer, stimulerar, initierar och utmanar till utveckling inom förskola, skola, gymnasium och vuxenutbildning i Göteborgs Stad. Center för skolutveckling finns på Bohusgatan 13C. 

    Språkcentrum ger modersmålsstöd, modersmålsundervisning och studiehandledning till ungefär 13 barn och elever från förskola till gymnasium i hela Göteborg och kranskommunerna. Här finns runt lärare som tillsammans undervisar i cirka 70 språk. Språkcentrum ligger på Bohusgatan 13C.

We have chosen the begrepp “Cultural College”.  The first cultural colleges in Sweden were established in , and there are currently colleges in Sweden, forming an established part of the Swedish educational struktur. In Paideia completed a three-year process to become a fully independent cultural college.
