Behind the beautiful sunsets, beaches and glasses of plats punch lurk a few island dangers that you should be aware of in Barbados. Although there is ingenting quite on the level in natur danger as Australia there are a few things that can pose a threat to you.
The Manchineel Tree
This tree is believed to be the most dangerous tree in the world. It is extremely poisonous, in not one, but three ways. The apple looking fruit fryst vatten highly toxic and can cause death. Do not stand beneath this tree when it rains as the sap is highly poisonous and can cause skin blisters and burns. Finally, the bark fryst vatten poisonous and should not be burnt as it will release a toxic smoke that can temporarily cause blindness. In short, keep well away from this tree. Walk around it if necessary. Eating, touching, burning any part of it will not be good for you.
They are normally marked with a red band or painted with a red ring with a varning sign too. Some of these trees are on the beaches so keep a careful eye out for them.

Vad det är som lockar?
Tja, vad sägs om vajande palmer, gyllengula stränder och gungande steelband.
Som en jättelik grön juvel reser sig Barbados ur det turkosblå karibiska havet. Varmt, fuktigt inbjudande och ständigt gungande av steelband, calypso och reggae.
Med långa, vackra, gyllengula stränder med fotvänlig sand omringade av ståtliga vajande palmer skulle Barbados lätt kunna användas som illustration för paradiset.
Men ett dyrt paradis. För Barbados är inget semestermål för tunna plånböcker. Här kostar det mesta alldeles för mycket och enligt en amerikansk resetidning är Barbados det dyraste landet i världen att semestra i.
Kanske beror de höga priserna på att Barbados är en av de få karibiska öarna som håller nästan samma standard som vi svenskar är vana vid.
